Track 3.  Pua Mae‘ole  3:26  (John Kamana) (instrumental)

John “Squeeze” Kamana wrote this song for his daughter, Leone Kaninipuamae‘ole. Completed in 1954 as a musical gift of love, it was written over the years as he watched her blossom from a small child into a beautiful woman.

Pua Mae ‘Ole

(Never Fading Flower)

by John Squeeze Kamana

Ku‘u pua ku‘u pua mae‘ole                My flower, my never fading flower

Nou mau ko‘u li‘a ‘ana                       Yours always my deep affection

He nohea ‘oe i ku‘u maka lā               you are lovely in my eyes

A no nā kau a kau                                For all seasons (always)

Nani he u‘i ka wahine lā                     Beautiful, young and lovely, the woman

A he lei wehi no nā kupuna                A lei, an adornment for the grandparents

Ku‘u pua ku‘u pua mae‘ole                My flower, my never fading flower

Nou ku‘u mele nei                              For you this song of mine
